Compliance Officer

Purpose: To manage the Bank’s compliance programs, including policies, procedures, systems monitoring, technology-based controls, and training, as well as compliance monitoring and testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Provide effective leadership in enhancing and sustaining the compliance programs to ensure they are commensurate with equivalent sized bank programs and practices and in line with the expectations of federal and state regulatory authorities.
- To develop and maintain required compliance training, training related to staff development, and other ongoing training/education as assigned.
- Assist in assessment and monitoring the compliance and enterprise risks associated with the Bank’s business activities, operations, and products and services.
- Assist in managing the Bank’s compliance and risk assessment programs, including policies and procedures, training and testing. Such as Flood, CRA, HMDA, Fair Lending, and ID Theft.
- Assist, review, and collaborate with other bank departments to gather information in preparation for audits and exams. Review responses for regulatory exams, audits, investigations, and other information requests.
- Ongoing development and updates to CRA plan and monitoring compliance with the plan.
- Coordinate bank wide compliance with CRA/HMDA. Effectively interact with other departments to develop automated processes for the accurate and efficient gathering and scrubbing of HMDA and CRA data that would sustain loan growth. Responsible for ensuring the data and integrity of CRA and HMDA data for regulatory filing, including but not limited to scrubbing sample loan files and/or setting up tools for validity and edit checks.
- Prepare reports and information for the Board of Directors as needed.
- Act as an integral part of the audit compliance committee.
- Participate in various committees and provide compliance support as needed.
- Assist in special projects as assigned including but not limited to optimizing efficiency with bank procedures and systems (i.e. account opening, Universal Banker procedures).
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. CRCM, CAMS, or similar certification preferred. Ongoing Compliance related education is required.
Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in banking compliance or regulatory roles.
Skills: Full knowledge of applicable laws and regulations impacting consumer and commercial compliance, BSA/AML and OFAC. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, detail oriented, dependable and ability to multi-task, ability to communicate well with all levels within the bank and outside agencies, ability to research regulations and implement applicable changes, proficiency in MS Office suite.
Human Relations: Requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various levels of staff and outside contacts.
Responsibility and Decision-Making: Regular judgements are made with the guidance of Senior Management and Board of Directors.
Supervision of Others: N/A
Physical Demands: Ability to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Work Environment: The overall working conditions are relatively safe and comfortable, typical of an office environment.
